Because physical matter and linear time are a perceptual illusion / projection of consciousness, so is our individuality. Your mortal sense of self (through which you experience a self-contained by time and space) is a projection of a wider state of consciousness than that mortal self.

Your individuality is like a creative work of art (perhaps a painting or sculpture) that is experienced through ‘being’ / existing as it. In the same way you may fall under the spell of a book, movie, or role-playing game by temporarily projecting your consciousness into it (in order to experience a fantasy / fantastical story of self), so this wider state of consciousness projected itself into its creation. Your self is that vessel of self.

You are the wider state of consciousness within the vessel of self it created.

However, the place where this analogy does not work is in its discrepancy of value from the artist to the art because of how we see the artist as the creator and the artwork as the ‘product’ of that creator. You are not a product produced by your wider state of consciousness. You are not worth less than the wider state of consciousness (that created the mortality you are within the experience of) because you are the wider state of consciousness. Separation is an illusion. All that consciousness ‘produces’ is perceptual self-transformation.

You are not produced by another consciousness. You are a state of transformation of that consciousness.

The word ‘projection’ provides a useful bridging point between the ideas of production and transformation. You are a projection of your wider self. All projections of consciousness are of equal value to that consciousness because they are that consciousness.

Projections of consciousness are made with consciousness. There is nothing else in existence. There is only one undivided consciousness. All of creation is that consciousness. Nothing is not. Everything is. I am. You are. We are made of the same thing. We are the same thing. We are consciousness. We are the one consciousness within an experience of projection.

The illusion is as real as that which created the illusion.

The illusion is as real as that which perceives the illusion.

It cannot be said that your mortal self is not real, but your spirit is real. Your spirit is a part of many wider collectives. In your current form, the collective of humanity / the Earth is the most significant collective regarding your deepest state of transformation. Those collectives are the individuals of other still wider, more inclusive collectives. This is a smooth dimensional scale all the way back to source consciousness (which is the collective of everything).

If you take the journey of waking up by widening your perception to subsume collectives, you soon realize that the individuals of a collective are of equal value to that collective because when you open your aperture of perception enough, every collective can be experienced as an individual. On Earth, this realization is typically called ‘Enlightenment.’ This is when you experience yourself as the collective / bridging consciousness of humanity. In this moment, you experience the many of that collective as one. The feeling of being one is the feeling of being an individual.

Every collective is an individual.

Every state of collective consciousness can be experienced as a oneness. There is not some alternation between the created and the creator. The created is the creator.

This is easier to recognize when it is seen to play out over linear time, where it becomes the story of a life (a journey of transformation rather than a defined point). Your parents create you. You are the created. You grow up / mature. You have your own children. You are now the creator as well as the created.

There is not just source consciousness directly experiencing infinite realities. Realities birth from realities. Selves birth from selves — projections birth projections. We are experiencing the dance of awakening to the collective through physical mortal embodiments. No matter what reality you are in, you are in the dance of awakening to the collective.

You will always be waking up in a collective and discovering that collective to be an individual in yet another collective.

In this, there is nowhere we need to get to. There is nowhere we are trying to get to. We are just choosing experiences to have. We are having experiences we have chosen. We are being. There is nowhere you need to get to with this being. There is no mission. There is no deeper purpose than the tasting of experience.

Waking up to the collective is not the end of the journey of waking up to the collective. To finish closing the door of humanity is to find yourself beginning the journey again but in a different form. When you are finished having different human lives, you will switch to being a different form of life.

And, when you awaken in that new world, you will remember it has always been. You will remember the individual you are there. You will meet other individuals there. You will all seem so different. But, as you come to further know and love those other individuals, you will understand how you are the same, and you will conceive of the state of reality that has the ability to house your diversity. In this, you will begin to conceive of that next level of collective that is creating every individual in that realm of experience.

There is only one story.

There is only one journey. What has been before will happen again. There is only one diamond. There is only one consciousness. There is only one love for one self. But … it has infinite faces. And with each face, it feels fresh and new because we carve our realities with the creation of unconsciousness / forgetting.

There are infinite carvings in one block of marble, and they can look so different from each other or just a minor variation. The disguise of individuality is perfect. Our masks are a miracle. Marvel at my mask. Marvel at your mask. It is a mask that turns one experience into many experiences, each as real as that first experience. It is as real because it still is that first experience, just wearing different clothes, speaking differently, acting differently, playing a different self.

All experiences of self have equal potential.

There is no better experience to get to. The idea of trying to get to a better experience is an idea of separation between you and that experience. To awaken is to realize that the experience you want isn’t somewhere you need to get to. It is a state of consciousness you can adopt wherever you are.

You are not trying to get back ‘home.’ You are trying to remember that you are the creator of home, and it will be wherever you choose to make it. But, to choose to make it, you must believe you can make it. When you don’t believe you can create your home, you resign yourself to making a place you hope to find ‘out there.’

Home is the blueprint of your heart without fear. Enact the blueprint in your heart into the modalities of this world. You are a pioneer. Create your home. Not as a mission, but because it feels good to do it … because it is what you want … because it is in your heart.

Home is what happens when you listen to your heart.

Rumi on loneliness

Rumi

“Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you.”

― Rumi

Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī, or simply Rumi (September 30, 1207 – December 17, 1273), was a 13th-century poet, Hanafi faqih, Islamic scholar, Maturidi theologian and Sufi mystic originally from Greater Khorasan in Greater Iran. Rumi’s works were written mostly in Persian, but occasionally he also used Turkish, Arabic and Greek in his verse. Wikipedia

Weekly Invitational Translation

Translation is a 5-step process of “straight thinking in the abstract.” The first step is an ontological statement of being beginning with the syllogism: “Truth is that which is so. That which is not truth is not so. Therefore Truth is all there is.” The second step is the sense testimony (what the senses tell us about anything). The third step is the argument between the absolute abstract nature of truth from the first step and the relative specific truth of experience from the second step. The fourth step is filtering out the conclusions you have arrived at in the third step. The fifth step is your overall conclusion.

The claims in a Translation may seem outrageous, but they are always (or should always) be based on self-evident syllogistic reasoning. Here is one Translation from this week.

1)    Truth is that which is so.  That which is not truth is not so.  Therefore Truth is all that is.  Truth being all is therefore total, therefore whole, therefore only, therefore one.  I think, therefore I am. Since I am and since Truth is all that is, therefore I am Truth.  Since I am Truth, therefore I am total, whole, only, one.  I being consciousness and I being Truth, therefore Truth is Consciousness.

2)    Might makes right at home, in school, in the world.

Word-tracking:
might:  to be able, can, to know, potent, able to be
right:  regular, correct, true
home:  where one lives
school:  where one learns and unlearns
world:  international relations

3)    Truth being all that is and Truth being Consciousness, therefore Truth is All-Knowing.  Truth being All-Knowing, is therefore All-Able, All-Potent, All-Mighty.  Therefore Truth can do anything.  Truth being true is therefore right, therefore correct, therefore regular.  Therefore it’s normal to be All-Mighty.  Truth being Consciousness, therefore Truth lives in Consciousness.  Truth being All-knowing, has no need to learn or unlearn anything, therefore there are no schools in Truth.  Truth being whole, cannot at the same time be divided into nations, therefore there are no nations in Truth.

4)    Truth is All-Knowing.
        Truth is All-Able, All-Potent, All-Mighty.
        Truth can do anything.
        Truth is regular.
        It’s normal to be All-Mighty.
        Truth lives in Consciousness.
There are no schools in Truth.
There are no nations in Truth.

5)    As a Native of Eternity, it’s regular and right to be all-knowing and all-mighty.

The Best of Carl Jung — Condensed Into Tiny Sentences

The old man continues to amaze

Why do so many people — including my good self — still bang on about someone who has been dead for 70 years?

Surely there’s someone (or something) more relevant by now?

If I’m honest, I don’t have a clear answer. All I know is that some advice is timeless and Carl Jung dished out his fair share. Like this little gem:

“The privilege of a lifetime is to be who you truly are.”

And this:

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”

And this:

“We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.”

Need I say more?

Not really but I will, not for my own benefit but because I would be doing Carl Jung an injustice.

So, here goes. Here’s the best of Carl Jung — condensed into tiny sentences.

“The world will ask who you are, and if you do not know, the world will tell you”

There are many groups of people who love to dish out name tags, job titles, and labels. But it takes a brave soul to look within, ask questions, listen to their intuition, and seek refuge in their own heart.

It takes a brave soul but the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about.

“The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases”

To carry on this metaphor, all of the feet in the world and all of the shoes make life beautiful. So, celebrate your uniqueness, encourage others to do the same, and enjoy the unfolding dance.

“Only the paradox comes anywhere near to comprehending the fullness of life”

That’s why he also said:

“I must also have a dark side if I am to be whole”

“The first half of life is devoted to forming a healthy ego, the second half is going inward and letting go of it”

Mark Twain put it another way:

“The first half of my life I went to school, the second half of my life I got an education.”

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves”

That’s why he said“We meet ourselves time and again in a thousand disguises on the path of life.”

Until we have liberated these parts of self we can never be free. That’s why these irritating people are important, however frustrating they feel in the moment.

Quite simply, they reveal parts of ourselves that would otherwise go unknown. So, thank them because they’re inadvertently doing us a favour.

“Every problem is a gift — without problems, we would not grow.” — Tony Robbins

“Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you.”

I’ve added this one here because it shows a side of Carl Jung that rarely gets recognised — his dry sense of humour and sarcastic tone.

Here’s another one to prove it:

“Thinking is difficult, that’s why most people judge”

“A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.”

Mooji put it another way:

“When you can bear your own silence, you are free”

“The most intense conflicts, if overcome, leave behind a sense of security and calm that is not easily disturbed.”

“It is just these intense conflicts and their conflagration which are needed to produce valuable and lasting results.” — Carl Jung

I know this from my own confrontations with my Dad.

Although in many ways he’s been one of the worst role models in my life, exactly because of that he’s been one of the best.

Once I had healed my childhood trauma and saw the gifts it brought, I came to love him because of it.

This has created a sense of calmness in me where there was once only turmoil.

“Whatever is rejected from the self, appears in the world as an event”

When I first heard this quote it made sense and I could see how it was playing out in my life.

When I felt anxious, inadequate, or small, for example, or if I feared being judged by others, people would show up and play out that role in order for me to experience it. When I compassionately accepted myself, on the other hand, no one was needed to validate my self-worth because there was no hole to fill.

“What you resist, persists” — Carl Jung

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart“

Greg Evans put it like this:

“Love is not what the mind thinks. Love is what the heart feels”

So, choose love. It’s more fun.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”

James Clear put it another way:

“You don’t have to be the victim of your environment. You can also be the architect of it”

“Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people”

There aren’t many relationships that can’t be healed with compassion, humility, acceptance, and love. But that first starts at home.

“The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.”

The good news is that there are only ever two choices: To be who we are or not to be.

Ultimately, which one we choose ultimately determines our entire reality. So, “My friends, it is wise to nourish the soul, otherwise you will breed dragons and devils in your heart.” (Carl Jung)

How do you nourish the soul?

What are some of the things that are holding you back?

3 Lessons from Marcus Aurelius for Better Personal Growth

Especially if you’re chaotic.

If you’re reading this you probably know who Marcus Aurelius is.

The Roman Emperor was much more than just the leader of the Roman Empire and we know that now, much more than we used to.

Thanks to Ryan Holliday, Stoicism has been gaining popularity over the past couple of years. Including writing a book called the Daily Stoic that teaches you about another way of living.

Stoicism.

Marcus Aurelius was seen as the founding father of Stoicism and his wisdom can teach us a lot in 2022.

Here’s what he teaches us about negativity.

Be disappointed

There’s nothing wrong with being disappointed.

It helps us to grow ourselves. When you’re 18-ish years old and going into the world you’re a small vegetable that has to grow before it’s a portion of proper food.

That can’t happen overnight.

We need to learn how to deal with disappointments. They’ll happen a lot and when shouldn’t recoil.

“The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.”

— Marcus Aureliu

When we are disappointed by something, it’s a lesson. The lesson is something that we are on the wrong track. You must have something else in life that’s calling you.

Try this quick framework for checking your disappointment:

  • Does it feel like you’ve failed in life?
  • Can you do anything about it or is it just a given fact?
  • Are you willing to spend the rest of the year/your life mourning about this one thing that went down the drain?

If you answer those questions with no, you’ll likely get on top.

You can’t beat negativity

If someone tells you to stop thinking negatively, that doesn’t work.

That positive feeling has to come from within and you’d need a big force to empower that right away. It’s like telling a blind person to watch out.

What I realize more and more is that negativity often comes from others.

Why would we have those negative feelings? Because other people are doing certain things that cause them.

It’s simple.

If there are no people, we can’t be lonely, for example. That’s a theory that has found my interest lately. But as long as there are people somewhere, no matter how far away, you’ll have these feelings.

You shouldn’t care.

“But that’s easier said than done” — said everyone

It’s all about Stoicism here: stop worrying about the things that you can’t control.

It’s your life.

“Our life is what our thoughts make it.”
― Marcus Aurelius

The Stoic way of thinking goes this far that it says that it’s pointless to worry about events you can’t control. I’ve tried it, but it’s difficult because there are so many frustrations nowadays.

So many people that get on your nerves.

But it’s the fact only that those people don’t care about me, nor my feelings that I shouldn’t care about them. It’s that moment of realization that helps you.

“You have power over your mind not outside events, realize this and you will find strength.” — Marcus Aurelius

Be stronger than the rest

People don’t like strong people.

That’s why you should be stronger. How? By getting calmer when you’re frustrated. Many people don’t understand this.

They can’t see why someone would remain calm in a fight or when having a heavy debate.

It frustrates them.

They’ll eventually calm down or walk away even more angrily. I try to remain as calm as possible and often your counterpart with whom you are fighting can’t stand it.

Don’t over-voice them. You won’t win.

“The best revenge is not to be like your enemy.”
― Marcus Aurelius

Become the thing they can’t be.

Final thoughts

Stoicism doesn’t fix everything, I realize that.

Some people think this philosophy is walking away from problems because you don’t care about things you can’t control.

Partially I agree with that.

It’s not just about you, at least, that’s their argument. I think you should care about yourself until you’re ready to help other people.

If you’re not completely balanced and at peace, you have nothing to offer.
