New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

The Scorpio New Moon is in a powerful position when it partially eclipses the Sun. The typical, Scorpio-related emotions of jealousy, bitterness, and rage may be felt more deeply at this time. Such feelings and ruminations may be layered upon others and could, perhaps, be triggered by specific events. With the Moon conjunct Venus, there is a strong likelihood that values are at the heart of any such sensitivities or situations. In which case, matters of love or money might well provide some context.

Self-worth is part of the valuing process, and insecurities — from a sense of being less than someone else or beneath the grandeur of a certain circumstance — can be very painful to bear. We may prefer to feel something other than any shame associated with this, or any deep-seated fear of being abandoned through not being wanted or needed. These are not feelings to feel bad about — which could only compound the problem! They are part of our basic emotional and physical needs system, which is innate and a feature of our survival and ability to thrive — at least according to the theories of “human givens,” which is a part of Emotional Needs and Resources Theory in psychology.

Based on that framework, the good news is that our internal guidance systems help us get our needs met, too. So, if we are feeling excluded from a group or there’s a lack of intimacy in a relationship, now might be the time to work on our skills with rapport — which could be as simple as being interested in another person and asking a few questions or finding a way to discuss something that we have kept internalized. The typical Scorpio behavior is, of course, to keep much hidden, yet the secrets we conceal can fuel difficult feelings. But when aired, they won’t have such a hold over us, emotionally — and consequently, others may be comforted by identifying with our situation.

The Moon is inconjunct Jupiter, hinting at another root cause of any emotional or physical maladies we may be experiencing. Jupiter is so often connected with a situation of abundance. Yet if the abundance falls on someone else and puts us in the shadows, it can feel chilly and a little lonely. We may be glad for the other person, of course — we might even share in the sense of success and pride by congratulating a friend or loved one — but we may also be simply envious of another receiving all the accolades and prizes, whilst we appear overlooked or our efforts go unnoticed.

The good news is that any problem often also points to its own solution! And so, if there’s a message from Jupiter about abundance that can work in our favor, maybe it’s in the form of a directive to keep on trying. Just because our first efforts might not have grabbed the spotlight and yielded the applause we secretly hoped for, it doesn’t mean our overall endeavors are doomed to fail. Instead, we must dig in and work for that special place! It will surely come in time — and we may not yet have realized that our attempts are cumulative, and someone (or the Universe) has been quietly noting them, waiting for the right moment to offer an acknowledgement.

There is a dissociate square between Pluto in Capricorn and the Scorpio Moon, which might seem to exacerbate any of those deeper, more difficult feelings during this period. But squares have a positive side, which provide the drive to seek a resolution to something. So, if we try that little bit harder, we can get a very satisfactory result and be sure that we have found it. Rewards for efforts in this context feel well earned and we can really treasure them!
