The Mandelbrot Set (often called the Mandelbrot Fractal) is a mathematical object with infinite depth.  That means you could zoom into any part of it for an infinite period of time and still not come to the end of the intricacies is serves up.  Here, in this video, we zoom into it by enlarging the fractal to 10 followed by 227 zeros.   A very deep zoom.  Enjoy.

The Mandelbrot Set requires the use of a number called “i” — which is the impossible or imaginary number:  the square root of minus one.  There is no such thing, yet you can’t make a fractal that you can zoom into without “i”.  To make the Mandelbrot Set you iterate z=z^2+c on the complex plane.  The complex plane’s y-axis is based on “i”.
