7 PM — Just home from a long day at the cancer center. Normal chemo day — labs, meet with the oncologist and then let them pour drugs into my body. I got there at 9 AM and got home maybe a half hour ago. So long day and I’m tired. But….
I did want to let you all know that the scans from Wednesday came back negative for malignancy. They showed no cancer in my pelvis or my spine. The oncologist called it a “complete response.” This obviously is great news. She assumes that the areas that were not scanned have also reacted the same way so everything is looking good as far as the cancer is concerned. I have 2 more chemo treatments to go and after all 6 are finished, then we will do a complete PET CT scan of my whole body. It looks like I am beating the cancer — well not me, the whole team of doctors and nurses and all my friends and family helping me out. It really is a group effort.
I do still have the neuropathy in my foot. The oncologist thinks that it will probably work itself back to normal in some 6 months or so. But there is a small chance it won’t. But neuropathy won’t kill me like cancer. I did finally hear back from the PT company and have an evaluation appointment scheduled with them for next Thursday. So I will continue with the Lyrica, get going with the PT program and see how that goes and then decide about acupuncture as a next step if I don’t see improvement. I am optimistic about the chances of getting my foot back to normal.
All in all, a great day full of great news. I’m not out of the woods yet but I am getting closer to the clearing.
