Eric Liu is working to spark a civic revival in the US and beyond.
I see where Mr. Liu is coming from—Taiwan, and the shadow of China’s authoritarian government—and I wish him well.
But I think he’s doing “positive thinking” on a national scale trying to cancel out the lack of shared civic virtue that he sees all too plainly.
To his credit he is articulating his vision of what citizenship means.
