  1. This long blurb is very pallid compared to the novel. The novel is very engaging and multi-stranded. Intellectually stimulating. Completely original.

    Reading about the Cultural Revolution from individual people’s perspective was very enlightening about China.

    And I was shocked that someone would want to help the aliens take over! I’ve never seen this option played out before in many decades of reading SF.
