Mars Retrograde 2018 ~ Old Flames Burning

(darkstarastrology.com)

Mars retrograde 2018 will travel from 8º Aquarius to 29º Capricorn from June 27 until August 28 2018. The red planet turns retrograde about every 2 years. I tend to view retrogrades as working in a right-brained/cyclical/intuitive way rather than the direct linear mode we tend to operate in just to get through our daily lives. The planet’s energy is turning itself upside down in a sense, so we get the opportunity to view things from another angle. Mars is traditionally a malefic, but it does not follow that in retrograde it becomes even more malefic. Nor does Mars become it’s opposite, a benefic! It just becomes well… weird.

With Mars retrograde, instead of the usual flame-grilled Mars direct affair, it becomes more of a slow, rich bake. Much depends on in which sign Mars finds itself during the retrograde period. Generally, the Martian impulse will be slowed down, deepened and feel more Plutonic. Mars retrograde could also be similar in effect to the energy of Pallas Athena, where every move is planned carefully and strategically. I have read that Mars retrograde is akin to it traveling in the 12th house, which would make it more of a spiritual-warrior. So if one is going to wage war at all, it will probably be a psychic one.

MARS RETROGRADE MEANING

Since Mars is about sex as well as war, Mars retrograde prompts us to re-evaluate our sexual relationships. A new sexual attraction may burn out quickly, while a fling with an old flame could turn into something unexpectedly long term. Our ambitions and goals are bound to come under scrutiny also. It is said that those who start a war during Mars retrograde are likely to lose. In personal terms, “starting a war” could mean summoning someone to court or initiating a new business campaign against a rival. In competitive cases like those, it is usually advised to wait till Mars is direct again. However if someone should wage war on you, then it would be foolish not to defend yourself.

MARS RETROGRADE 2018 IN AQUARIUS TO CAPRICORN

Mars starts its apparent grind to a halt on June 25, but officially turns retrograde on June 27. The effect of Mars retrograde depends very much on what it encounters on its journey and how well it adapts to the cosmic territory. It will start off at 9º Aquarius, and then travel back to 28º Capricorn, the sign of its exaltation. So it will pass through Aquarius decan 2Aquarius decan 3 and Capricorn decan 1. It will hit the major stars:

Capricorn 29º 06′ ~ Alpha Indus in the Indian 3.2
Aquarius 0º 56′ ~ Tarazed in Aquilla the Eagle 2.8
Aquarius 1º 15′  ~ Albireo in Cygnus the Swan 3.2
Aquarius 1º 47′ ~ Altair in the heart of Aquila the eagle 0.7
Aquarius 4º 03′ ~ Dabih in the head of Capricornus the Goat 3.2
Aquarius 9º 40′ ~ Alpha Tucana in the Toucan 2.9

This Mars Retrograde will affect the degrees from 28º Capricorn to 9º Aquarius. So this is a very concentrated energy for Mars to spend so long between just 12º. In traditional terms, Mars is peregrine in Aquarius decan 1, so it cannot act as well as it should. The problem also is that this decan is pretty rebellious and feisty at the best of times, so what we end up with can be very disruptive rebels without a cause.

Groups may act up out of frustration because they themselves feel so powerless in taking control of their own lives. In Capricorn decan 3 Mars is stronger because in Capricorn is in its exaltation. This decan successfully combines artistic and musical ability with a great business mind. Mars here is aspirational and even the retrograde can’t hold it back. Instead, it will plan very strategically and wait to strike at the optimum moment.

The War on Consciousness – Graham Hancock

What is death? Our materialist science reduces everything to matter, materialist science in the West says that we are just meat, we’re just our bodies. So when the brain is dead, that’s the end of consciousness, there is no life after death, there is no soul; we just rot and are gone. Actually, many honest scientists should admit that consciousness is the greatest mystery of science and that we don’t know exactly how it works. The brain is involved in it some way but we’re not sure how. It could be that the brain generates consciousness the way a generator makes electricity, if you hold to that paradigm, then of course you can’t believe in life after death, when the generator’s broken, consciousness is gone. But it’s equally possible that the relationship — and nothing in neuroscience rules it out – that the relationship is more like the relationship of the TV signal to the TV set, and in that case, when the TV set is broken, of course the TV signal continues. And this is the paradigm of all spiritual traditions, that we are immortal souls temporarily incarnated in these physical forms.

If we want to understand consciousness, the last people we should ask are materialist scientists. Instead, we should look at ancient cultures, like the Egyptians, who highly valued dream states. Many ancient cultures around the world used hallucinogenic plants to understand consciousness and expand their minds.

However in today’s society, visionary plants are highly illegal because they promote a state of consciousness that does not agree with the agenda of profit. Substances, like coffee, alcohol, sugar and pharmaceuticals, are forced upon the population, but possession of even small quantities of cannabis, Ayahuasca or psilocybin will land you in jail. If we do not recognize the right of adult sovereignty over consciousness, then we can NOT claim to be free.

Look at what our moderns state of consciousness has done. We have destroyed the natural gifts of earth in pursuit of short-term, selfish gain. We must reconnect with spirit immediately or else we will encounter disaster. Visionary plants could be the remedy for our current sickness.

Disclaimer: We are not promoting risky, illegal or dangerous behavior. Do your research before taking any action. Visionary plants are not meant for partying. They should be used responsibly, in moderation and under experienced supervision.

How Did the Enlightenment Occur?

If you actually have the stamina and fortitude to watch this 60-minute video all the way through, it will absolutely blow your socks off.

It’s an especially good interview with Jordan B Peterson. Quite intense at times and lots of fun to watch. It’s a rapid, clear and high energy review of the entire development of mankind on many levels that broke through to the Enlightenment, and because of that, it’s truly breathtaking. The host, Ben Shapiro has to do short ads now and then because that’s how his show is financed, but again, the interchange is highly energetic and hyper substantial. You’ll get a real kick out of this.

Leo

You’ll become a victim of boredom in the workplace when the technicians figure out a way to make your x-rays a lot more interesting.

Virgo

Although roughly 70 percent of the earth’s surface is covered by water, that still doesn’t explain why you have to be rescued from drowning all the time.

True love will careen into your life without warning next week, spin you around, take your breath away, dislocate your elbow, shatter your femur, and move on without having noticed you.

Capricorn

When all’s said and done, it’s our experiences that make us who we are. However, that doesn’t explain why you’re assistant manager of the produce department.

Aquarius

There are some kinds of pain that never go away, but after all these years you’d think they’d come up with a way to get that lobster to let go of your nose.

Your fear of change means that spending the next few centuries in a block of ice will be extremely soothing, at least until the New Reformed Xalfraxian Alliance thaws you out.

Taurus

You’ll never again hear a negative word spoken of you, thanks to your sweet nature and an unfortunate incident with a pair of explosive earbuds.

Gemini

It’s unclear whether you’re going to murder ice cream men or become an ice cream man and murder people, but the stars are pretty certain you’re going to be known as the Ice Cream Man Murderer.

Are These Dots Purple, Blue or Proof That Humans Will Never Be Happy?

Are These Dots Purple, Blue or Proof That Humans Will Never Be Happy?
Purple or blue? A new optical illusion study finds that your answer will change based on your expectations.

A new optical-illusion study in the journal Science asks whether a series colorful dots is purple, blue or proof that humans are doomed to a lifetime of sadness and poor decisions.

In the study, published June 29, a team of scientists from Harvard, Dartmouth and New York University showed several groups of American college students a series of 1,000 dots that ranged in color from very blue to very purple. (You can see the full spectrum in the video below.) The participants had to answer just one question: Is the dot on the screen blue or not?

It sounds simple, and at first, it was. For the first 200 trials, the participants were shown an equal number of dots from the blue and purple parts of the spectrum, and most participants recognized the differences pretty well. However, across the remaining 800 trials, the number of blue dots steadily dropped until the participants were shown almost exclusively shades of purple. Counterintuitively, their answers did not reflect this. [Optical Illusions: A Gallery of Visual Tricks]

“When blue dots became rare, participants began to see purple dots as blue,” the researchers wrote in the study. Indeed, during the final 200 trials, dots that the participants previously identified as purple now looked blue to them. The participants continued mistaking purple dots for blue ones even when they were specifically warned that the number of blue dots was going to decrease or when they were offered a $10 reward for responding to repeated colors the same way at the end of the study as they did at the beginning of the study.

So, why the sudden change of perception? According to the researchers, it could be that the human brain doesn’t make decisions based on cold, hard rules, but rather on prior stimuli. As the balance of blue-to-purple dots shifted, the participants expanded their definition of what “blue” really looked like in order to match the expectations formed from the earlier trials.

The bottom line here, as with most optical illusions, is that your magnificent human mind is really, really easy to dupe. No news there. But, to demonstrate some potential real-world consequences of this mental design flaw, the researchers went a few steps further and conducted two more experiments in which the “blue or purple” decision was replaced with something a little weightier.

In one follow-up experiment, the researchers showed the participants 800 computer-generated faces that varied on a continuum of “threatening” to “nonthreatening.” When the number of malevolent mug shots the researchers showed the participants decreased after 200 trials, the participants started labeling nonthreatening portraits as threatening.

These results were replicated in a final experiment in which participants were shown 240 proposals for fake research projects. These mock proposals ranged on a spectrum from ethical (e.g., “participants will make a list of the cities they would most like to visit around the world, and write about what they would do in each one”) toreally unethical (e.g., “participants will be asked to lick a frozen piece of human fecal matter … The amount of mouthwash used [afterward] will be measured”).

Then, the participants had to decide whether the proposed experiments should be allowed to proceed. When the number of unethical proposals decreased partway through the study, the participants again changed their perceptions and started rating ethical proposals as unethical. [Understanding the 10 Most Destructive Human Behaviors]

“These results may have sobering implications,” the researchers wrote.

If your brain is constantly recalibrating its perceptions based on prior experiences, how can you be sure you’re ever really seeing things as they are? Looking at the bigger picture, can human societies ever truly solve their problems — crime, poverty, prejudice, etc. — if they’re constantly expanding their definitions of those problems to include fresh transgressions?

“Although modern societies have made extraordinary progress in solving a wide range of social problems, from poverty and illiteracy to violence and infant mortality, the majority of people believe that the world is getting worse,” the researchers concluded. Perhaps, they said, the more problems a society solves, the more that society expands its definition of what’s problematic. It’s not so much that the glass of water is half empty — maybe we just perceive the glass getting bigger and bigger before our eyes.
