Taurus New Moon Supermoon, April 26, 2017 (7 degrees) 5:16 am PDT

April 26, 2017 is the first of four supermoons in 2017. However, the moon isn’t full on April 26. This isn’t a full supermoon. It’s a new supermoon. In fact, the new moons on April 26, May 25 and June 24 all qualify as supermoons, with the May 25th counting as the “most super” of them all. Remember, this is when the moon is closer to the earth than usual, so its gravitational pull on the earth is stronger. This means bigger tides, larger storms, and possible earthquakes. What is a supermoon? The term supermoon didn’t come from astronomy. These moons used to be called perigee new moons or perigee full moons. Perigee means near Earth. An astrologer, Richard Nolle, is credited with coining the term supermoon. He defines a supermoon as:. . . a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth.

This current New Moon occurs just before dawn on Wednesday. As the Sun and the Moon come together inTaurus at 5:16 am, Uranus and Mercury are within minutes of an exact conjunction in Aries. The two planets representing the higher mind (Uranus) and the lower mind (Mercury) encourage exciting new possibilities. This powerful alignment stimulates advanced and innovative solutions; at its highest potential, we can be swept away with new understanding that can shift our awareness in profound and much needed directions. This influence will stay with us throughout the rest of April and into the first two weeks of May, because of Mercury’s retrograde motion. Uranus and Mercury are also trine Saturn, indicating that the ideas and new inspiration we entertain now contain the fertile seeds that can steadily mature in the coming weeks.

Venus, the ruler of this Taurus New Moon, is conjunct Chiron in Pisces, encouraging healing if we are willing to forgive the past and move beyond discord and feelings of victimization. Integrate these powerful energies of this New Moon to shift your focus and move beyond the chaos and transform into a new and empowered human.

PLAN YOUR OWN NEW MOON CEREMONY. Give yourself some quiet time in meditation to see where you need to seed new ways of becoming. List these areas within your life you want to change. What areas do you want to break free from the norm and become more productive and discerning? The NEW MOON is the time to manifest the personal attributes you want to cultivate as well as the tangible things you want to bring to you. Possible phrasing: I now manifest ____ into my life. I am now _______ . Remember, think, envision and feel with as much emotion as possible, as though you already have what you want. Thoughts are things and the brain manifests exactly what you show it in the form of thoughts, visuals and emotions. The Buddha said, and I am paraphrasing, “We are the sum total of our thoughts up to today. ” If we want to be different then we must change our thoughts. “If you always do what you’ve always done then you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” CONSCIOUS CHANGE is the key.
