Scorpio Full Moon, May 18, 2:11 pm PDT

The Scorpio Full Moon protects hidden worlds, secrets, and deeper feelings. The Sun in this lunar phase, however, conjoins Mercury, making forms of communication vital. With safety or loyalty issues at stake, some secrets cannot be passed on, and lips will remain sealed! Yet, as psychology author John Bradshaw states, secrets can be a source of trauma — particularly if handed down in families. Secrets revealed and acknowledged can bring healing, even when they cannot be widely shared. The Scorpio Full Moon is a typical time for such manifestations, with emotional and psychic energies surging high. The Scorpio Moon’s watery nature can allow emotional intensity to swim up from the deep, and once it surfaces, it probably won’t feel so scary.

The Sun conjunct Mercury in Taurus emphasizes tangible forms, which makes keeping a physical record more important. When dealing with sensitive information, we may need to take a physical trip somewhere, rather than handling matters over the telephone or Internet. Safe ways can be found to hold secrets close, whilst releasing some of their energy — such as noting sensitive information in a journal kept firmly locked. An extra safety layer might involve writing in a personal code.

The Sun and Mercury trine Pluto, and the Scorpio Moon is opposite Mercury and sextile Pluto — these are the only other major lunar and planetary aspects, allowing just over a strict 4° orb. Pluto underscores this sign’s hush-hush quality. The timing may not be right to open up about something. Not all secrets relate to something negative, of course! There may be a good reason to keep something nice under wraps — such as plans for a surprise party. Occasionally, it is preferable to keep a matter to ourselves, simply because sharing the information would make someone else’s life awkward, or because we have been sworn to secrecy. Scorpio is known for being resourceful, though, and this may come in handy when we are asked any awkward questions, which could put forbidden information under threat of spilling out! Mercury’s presence in this lunar phase points to the usefulness of preparing answers to such questions.

Conversely, a Scorpio Full Moon may mean that we need to go digging, to get to the core of a situation and find an answer that has eluded us. We might have to press someone else for details or to get extra help. Given the Sun–Mercury conjunction, however, others may be more forthcoming than we expect. Traditionally, Mercury so close to the Sun is “combust,” so we should be cautious about what we are told, as information may not be reliable. Knowledge keenly sought could turn out to be less significant than imagined. Moon–Pluto aspects often signify power issues, but with a sextile aspect we can get closer to a resolution, once we identify how to make the best of our opportunities.

Mars, is traditionally termed in its “fall” in Cancer, indicating a lack of power or a problem with expression. Mars, a planet of directness and quick action, is in a watery environment; the way forward may be less direct and take longer, since water is harder to navigate through. Since the water element links with feelings, we could also need extra emotional intelligence. Rather than ask for something bluntly, we benefit from a subtle approach. Additional patience and diplomacy may be essential, if we are to make solid, lasting progress. It will help to look to the future, seeing that putting effort into building trust in a relationship now will pay greater rewards over the longer term.

Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds that may be coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fulfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts and emotions set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fulfillment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Do not concern yourself with current conditions or worry about controlling it. The universe takes care of those details. Just keep seeing what you want, and move in that direction with your actions, and give no energy to what you don’t want. Patience is required.
