Heads up about Calvin’s new seminar Cultural History 1900’s

Calvin Harris, H.W., M.

Those of you who have, or has had questions about my upcoming, Cultural History  Seminar.  At this moment I will not say much, other than to say, it will be a wild and stimulating ride for those who attend.

It is geared for those special folks who are seeking deeper knowledge about themselves, the unspoken culture they were brought up in, and how that affects their daily present life or whatever future they may want. The seminar is geared too for people who want to meet with a group in stimulating conversation.

It  would prove helpful for those of you wanting to be of service in counseling others with a deeper understanding of the archetypal principals at work in what seems like the everyday modern world, and if changes are considered, how to start thinking about them so that you don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Instead of the booklist, I had originally intended on using for this 12-week course. I will be using an online Zoom Class format of two- and one-half hour class sessions. I will be using some combination of film clips, music, photos and passages from literature, for the first hour and a roundtable discussion for the second hour, or some combination of both.  You will be provided with book and movie suggestions as outside class assignments for those choosing to work deeper with this information.  In attendance will be one or two Prospero counselors, if you choose to make contact with them or me about any personal issues that arise within the context of your work, that must be arranged with them.

For those eager to start now,  I suggest William H. Goetzmann book – Beyond The Revolution. This book is a prequel to where we begin.

You will be asked to keep a personal journal for these 12 weeks. Those using computers I suggest a notepad and pen, to capture ideas that you can later put into your journal.

This is the maiden voyage for this 12-week course, thus the class fee of $350 American dollars will be discounted to its review fee of $150. A payment plan can be arranged.  Those who want to try a drop-in session, that will be at the discounted rate of $20 per session.  Registration will begin in February 2019.

Brooke Hampton’s words sum up our journey.  When he said: “I am pieces of all the places I have been, stitched together by song lyrics, book quotes, adventure, late night conversations, moonlight, and the smell of coffee.”
