Susan RuffoThe ocean is often thought of as a victim of climate change, in need of human protection. But ocean expert Susan Ruffo says that mindset needs to shift. From storing carbon to providing protection to coastal communities, Ruffo highlights the ocean’s ready-made solutions to the climate crisis and asks: With more than eighty percent of the ocean still unexplored, what new solutions are waiting to be discovered?

Jung’s concept of the “Intergrating the Anima/Animus” is very practical when you can bully Jungians and strip away their jargon
Look at it this way:
When you want to reach high levels of performance you will be confronted by the masculine and feminine polarity inherent in all things(jargon alert)
“Integrating” them will lead usually lead to a breakthrough
For example:
Fighting is a very MALE behaviour
Your goal is to break someone else’s will using shear force
But if you step into any Martial Arts gym, you’ll quickly realise that charging around like an aggressive idiot will get you knocked unconscious very quickly by “graceful” fighters
A famous example of what I mean is Muhammad Ali
Ali was an outside fighter who “floated around you like a butterfly“
He wasn’t some aggressive pitbull who charged in with crazy aggression
Instead he literally danced circles around his opponents and stung them with stiff jabs and sharp counter strikes
This is quite a feminine approach…
When you watch him he doesn’t seem like some aggro warrior, it’s like he’s gliding or skipping…
But this is a powerful and common strategy for Martial Artists
Grace, style, smoothness, and sharpness are all the traits they develop to outwit and out move aggressive idiots
And it’s NOT that these guys lack manly power – often their power is frightening because they strike with fluid movements and the force travels well through their kinetic chains
They are an intergrated polarity
Feminine energy married to a manly behaviour to change the paradigm
But there’s always a flip side to these type of things
For example: I was sparring today
My style of fighting is this “outside fighting“
The guy I was sparring was a taekwando champion – an EXCEPTIONAL outside fighter
He just kept himself far out of my reach and kicked the fuck out of me
After some nasty stings I began to realise I needed a new strategy
Eventually I saw a simple answer… to take the MALE approach
So I began charging him down like a graceless bulldog
I got really close and smothered him
This made the spar ugly with a lot of clinching
But he lost all his advantage and had to fight an annoying fight where he couldn’t use his amazing kicks
This saved me a having a limp all day tomorrow from getting stung
And, little things like this pop up all the time, and polarised thinking is a very quick way to see alternatives
A tough manly boxer needs ballet classes to get better more graceful footworkA petite ballet dancer needs to pump iron in the weightlifting room to get straighter formA deep baritone singer needs to work on his airy headvoiceA fairylike soprano needs depth to her voiceA sharp rational engineer needs to work on his emotional intelligence around peopleA passionate creative painter needs to plan out a rigid routine to keep herself productiveA heady idealist needs to ground themselves in the hardness of realityA firm pessimist needs to open themselves to hope and possibilityA talented writer with great flair and phrasing needs to work on plotting and structureA formulaic writer who can churn out templated stories needs to work on style and colour
All these are little examples of thinking reframes that come when you look at things in terms of gendered polarity
As Jung said: the great crusade of our lives is trying integrate all the polarised opposites
Jungcucks who are stuck in their heads turn this into a sort of Pokemon Go for reading books
But in truth it’s found in the vast array of things you are doing every single day
You just haven’t develop the eye to see them!
Now, this is Psychology done properly
It’s not a weird abstract ego trip where you
It’s about learning how to discover big ideas about WHAT YOU CAN DO and then applying them to YOUR ACTUAL LIFE
You have an incredible brain and you’re criminally underusing it, because you’ve never learned HOW to use it
To give you an example: A gentleman came into my program studying Shamanism
He wanted to become a better Shaman and felt studying Jung would help
Of course, most Jungians would fill his brain with their Jargon and make him a really strange guy to be around when you take powerful psychedelic drugs because he’d be there chanting in jargon
I instead trained him to use the power of his words properly
I taught him THE PSYCHOLOGY of how words effect the mind
So when he’s in a serious situation with someone “having a bad trip” he knows how to talk to them to pull them out of it
He has the ability to use his words to paint a more positive and relaxing image inside their minds
He found this incredibly powerful
It was both practical, but also exciting and stimulating
So took this skill and began applying it everywhere
He ended up getting excited about language and persuasion in general and got a job for a glasses company where he was selling $1,000 a day…
Yeah… even I was amazed when he told me haha
But he explained that it was exactly like what I taught him about shamanism:
The person comes in, they are in distress (eyesight is poor, headaches)
If you believe the glasses can help them (honest assessment, no desire to bullshit them) you paint the picture in their minds of what the glasses are like… This excites them and they buy
This practical application cracked open a whole new world for him
Again, this is the type of practical applications of these ideas that are possible
The Lord of Gain is one of the cards which usually receives a hearty welcome when it comes up in a reading. At the mundane level it indicates the financial rewards which come from working diligently and dedicatedly on an important project, so it will often mark a stage of completion. In the workplace it will show that hard work is rewarded both by appreciation and an increase of salary. Sometimes it can indicate promotion (though rarely a total change of workplace) earned as a result of loyalty and attention to detail.
As you’ll remember, Disks not only deal with our financial area, but also with day-to-day security in the family environment. So sometimes the Lord of Gain can come up to indicate consolidation and achievement at home. Perhaps an emotional conflict has finally been resolved, or a long-standing problem finally dealt with.
At the spiritual level, this card talks a lot about the principle that what we give to life is what we get back. And here we have confirmation that we have lived as much as we are able in the moment, appreciating the things that come our way, and celebrating the bounty we have. As a result, more abundance flows in.
The card rarely indicates windfalls, or unexpected sources of income. Here we have worked hard to create something rewarding, and the Lord of Gain indicates the results of our efforts.
The Leo Full Moon brings a natural sense of drama and occasion with it, perhaps charming us and entertaining us — even when we think life ought to be absolutely serious! Perhaps we’re dealing with decidedly difficult themes and situations — the conjunction of Saturn with the previous New Moon would say so.
On the bright side, Saturn is on the other side of the Sun — and the Moon is past a close opposition to it, even though Saturn remains in sight. Thinking of dramatic themes, the planetary setup evokes Mark Wahlberg’s character, Bob Lee Swagger, in the movie The Shooter, where he meets his adversaries on the snowy ridge of a Rocky Mountains glacier. Wahlberg’s natal, passionate Mars–North Node is conjunct this lunation’s chilly Saturn, and the surname Swagger echoes Leo capacity! Whilst his love interest’s life is severely at stake with a gun to her head, Swagger’s consummate talents and hitman work skills ensure that the hostagetaker is gradually overpowered in a way that not only ensures the woman’s safety but must surely impress! The fact she represents his future might also bear upon the passion behind his aim. This is the kind of intensity that the Moon in Leo forges ahead with now. It is creative, confident, and peacock-like. It has the power to leave the dry, haughty authority of Saturn behind.
The Moon might well be tying up a few loose ends, since it’s also separating inconjunct Pluto. The inconjunct — or quincunx — is one of those slightly puzzling aspects; being minor, we stand to underestimate it. But because it has links with themes such as illness and blindness (metaphorical or otherwise), we ignore its messages at our peril. On the illness front — is there some stone left unturned that ought to be checked? Some box left un checked that’s going to matter later? If we can manage some action before it’s too late, that’s probably a good thing!
As for the blindness theme of this aspect — maybe we haven’t seen how much a Pluto issue has been affecting us. Pluto issues span quite the spectrum, including resentment, jealousy, a sense of void, deep hurt, emptiness, feeling put upon — the list goes on. Much has been said and written on this planet, especially by evolutionary astrologers, such as Steven Forrest and Mark Jones. In The Book of Pluto, Forrest describes part of a Pluto–Moon transit experience as showing any area in which we might pretend to be happy when, deep down, we are not. If our mood is rather more discontented than we are letting on, we might harness the nurturing side of the Moon to find a place of greater integrity with life and ourselves. This may not necessarily bring immediate peace — after all, telling the truth to someone else can sometimes rock the boat! But honesty might bring a sense of relief — and when the dust settles, we love ourselves that little bit more and feel somewhat more whole.
As the Moon is void of course, we may not be in a position to make huge plans just yet. Maybe we need time to just consolidate what’s been happening and to set the record straight with ourselves, as much as possible. The Moon is square to its own nodes after all, which suggests that a bit of karma might be addressed at this time. We could need time to integrate the “below the surface” changes going on — whilst we witness some benefit on the external plane as well. In fact, because this is a Full Moon, the nodes form a grand cross-type pattern, where the squares fall in four directions, rather like the hub of a wheel or fruit press. The grand cross often brings to mind the idea of the physical effort involved in keeping cogs turning! While operating a fruit press, one must put their whole body into it, no matter what other distractions may be occurring — and there can be several at such a time.
This lunation is ripe with strength, energy, and passion and is trine to Eris in fiery Aries. We potentially need to be top performers to manage life well. But there will surely be some sort of lull or reprieve with the Moon void of course when we must take time to see how the next chapter unfolds.

I woke up, put my hair in a sideways ponytail, put on my grandpa sweater along with my mom jeans, poured myself a cup of coffee, and sat back down on my bed to read the Iowa Senate chamber rules of decorum. You know, a typical weekday.
“All persons with access to the Senate chamber shall wear appropriate business attire. … Males must wear a coat and tie at all times.” I look to the rack next to my bed where I keep my “good clothes.”
“What do I wear if I win my election?” I ask myself as I rummage through my cute outfits trying not to spill coffee on anything. I don’t wear suits and I don’t wear dresses. “Are corduroy pants allowed in the chamber?”- ADVERTISEMENT -https://s.yimg.com/rq/darla/4-10-1/html/r-sf-flx.html
It’s troubling to imagine a doorperson at the Senate chambers inspecting each elected official to determine what “sex” or “gender” they are. There is no non-intrusive nor measurable way of accomplishing this. “Are they going to ask to look inside my pants?” “Are they going to test my chromosomes?” “Does the doorman run through a checklist with everyone?” “Do I have to present my birth certificate?”
I shouldn’t have to succumb to a strip search in order to represent the people of Iowa Senate District 17.
“Maybe that’s a problem for another day.” I sit back down to try and catch up on the numerous harmful bills that have been considered in the Iowa Senate. “Senate File 224, a bill that would prevent Iowa students from using a bathroom that did not match with their sex assigned at birth.”
“How will they know?” “Kids don’t really develop ‘gendered’ characteristics in a consistent, measurable way, so what is it exactly that they’re looking for?” “Why are grown adults concerned about what’s inside these kids’ pants?” “Are they going to test their chromosomes?” “Will there be a doorperson running through a checklist or checking kids’ birth certificates?”
There’s nothing binary about sex. There never has been. There have always been plenty of people who exist outside of the gender and sexual “binary,” and there have always been people in power attempting to deny their existence. As an adult who can pass as either male or female based on how I decide to put my hair in the morning, I refuse to let my existence be denied or measured by anyone other than myself.
But I‘m an adult, I have more bodily autonomy now than I had when I was in school.
Now 27 years into my life, I’m still unpacking the psychological effects that a gendered upbringing had on me, a nonbinary person. I know the confusion and discomfort I felt, and I don’t want the same for the youth who are growing up in Iowa today.
People who try to deny my existence always bring up biology as if there are definitive binary biological categorizations that define one’s sex or gender but I’ve yet to find a biology book that can define gender, let alone sex, in those terms.
I remember dedicating an entire section of my western Iowa conservative high school biology class to learning about the common inconsistencies that exist in human chromosomes, genitals, and reproductive organs. I remember the presentations that my classmates gave and how engaged students were with the content. To this day this is one of my favorite memories from school, to know that every experience I had that didn’t align with the stereotypes of the sex assigned to me was not only valid, it was normal. If sex isn’t binary, how could gender be binary?
So what is it that we’re trying to define? What are legislators hoping to accomplish?
Nobody at the State Capitol needs to know anything about my genitals or my genes. Nobody in your child’s school needs to know anything about theirs. Nobody needs to be harassed by their peers nor the bathroom police every time they want to do their business.
If I win election to the Iowa Senate, I don’t know what I’ll wear. I do know that, regardless of what I wear, my gender expression will be policed. I know that, when I go to use the restroom, I am likely to be questioned by others, and will be constantly interrogated about my appearance and whether or not I’m in the “right place.” Maybe I’ll be unlawfully removed from the Capitol by the Iowa State Patrol, as troopers have already done to trans kids.
Conservatives in Iowa claim to believe in personal liberties and small government, but the policies they push show the opposite. They want the government to define and enforce who we are. To me, that sounds pretty dangerous.

J.W. Dunne (1866-1949) was an accomplished English aeronautical engineer and a designer of Britian’s early military aircraft. His An Experiment with Time, first published in 1927, sparked a great deal of scientific interest in–and controversy about–his new model of multidimensional time.
A series of strange, troubling precognitive dreams (including a vision of the then future catastrophic eruption of Mt. Pelee on the island of Martininque in 1902) led Dunne to re-evaluate the meaning and significance of dreams. Could dreams be a blend of memories of past and future events? What was most upsetting about his dreams was that they contradicted the accepted model of time as a series of events flowing only one way: into the future. What if time wasn’t like that at all?
All of this prompted Dunne to think about time in an entirely new way. To do this, Dunne made, as he put it,”an extremely cautious” investigation in a “rather novel direction.” He wanted to outline a provable way of accounting for multiple dimensions and precognition, that is, seeing events before they happen. The result was a challenging scientific theory of the “Infinite Regress,” in which time, consciousness, and the universe are seen as serial, existing in four dimensions.
Astonishingly, Dunne’s proposed model of time accounts for many of life’s mysteries: the nature and purpose of dreams, how prophecy works, the immortality of the soul, and the existence of the all-seeing “general observer,” the “Witness” behind consciousness (what is now commonly called the Higher Self).
Here in print again is the book English playwright and novelist J.B. Priestley called “one of the most fascinating, most curious, and perhaps the most important books of this age.”
Eyes on me, or you will be removed from the class.
Understood?
I think today, maybe we’ll talk about evolution.
Or the lack of it.
To think about the evolution of man, it’s always a good idea to remember that we’re all animals.
And the rules which govern the lives of lions, of wolves, of our closest relatives, the primates, are no different than the rules which govern our lives.
We are in constant competition with each other, competition to breed, to eat, to seek water and shelter.
Only man cannot survive without a tribe.
Empathy exists to ensure the survival of our offspring.
Morality, whatever that may mean, exists to govern the behavior of the members within the tribe in hopes that the tribe does not destroy itself.
But now, all these tribes live close together, and we must find a way to see all humankind as one species, not as a collection of tribes.
Our survival depends upon this.
The age of competition is ended.
The age of cooperation is here.
If we do not find a way to cooperate, to extend that empathy to all humankind, then we will be the axe that chops our own roots.
We will be the arbiters of our own extinction.

On Friday, February 11, 2022 early in the morning, Denver Spiritual Astrologer Gayle Bachicha passed into the next world from her home in Denver.
Gayle Bachicha
Born N. Gayle Allred on May 11, 1941 in Washington, D.C., she early on realized and totally embraced her six planets in Taurus. Gayle grew into a real cowgirl with her musical parents on the ranch in Roswell, New Mexico, then moved to Denver to try out Veterinary school. Around 1958, she became Christopher Bachicha’s mom and remained a loving, devoted parent until his sudden passing in 2020 at his home in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
She owned and operated Tickerwick Publications, publishing her own book, Pocket Dictionary of Astrology in 1994, and also owned Jacob’s Ladder Bookstore on East Colfax Avenue in Denver. She also worked as a reader at the Metaphysical Bookstore on East Colfax for many years, teaching classes in Metaphysics and Astrology at the store. Later, she worked in sales with the Shining Lotus.
As a part of the Shining Lotus family for 12 years and the Metaphysical Bookstore family for more than 30 years before that, she was a very valuable, and humble member of the Denver Astrology community. Hundreds of students and thousands of astrology consulting clients have been taught, helped, guided, and loved by Gayle over the years.
Her life is joyfully celebrated by the remarkable, unselfish, caring circle of friends who have stepped up to care for her daily needs in the last few years. Their love, patience, and compassion is unparalleled, and their efforts to help make Gayle’s last years more tolerable will never be rewarded enough.

He has written biographies of Carl Jung, Aleister Crowley, Rudolf Steiner, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Emanuel Swedenborg, P. D. Ouspensky, and Colin Wilson. His newest book is Dreaming Ahead of Time: Experiences with Precognitive Dreams, Synchronicities and Coincidences. Here he describes the fascinating precognitive dreams reported by J. W. Dunne in his 1927 book, An Experiment with Time. Lachman discovered he could replicate Dunne’s findings by examining the lengthy records he had kept of his own dreams. He maintains that this is a repeatable effect that can be tested by anyone who has kept careful dream journals. It is not necessary to interpret such dreams. Dunne found that future and past information occurred about equally in his recorded dreams. He also discusses related phenomena such as hypnogogic states and synchronicity. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death. “I must be a very ingenuous reader, because I’ve never thought that novelists mean to say more than what they say. When Franz Kafka says that Gregory Samsa woke up one morning transformed into a gigantic insect, it doesn’t strike me as a symbol of anything, and the only thing that has always intrigued me is what kind of creature he might have been. I believe that in reality there was a time when carpets flew and genies were imprisoned in bottles. . . . Even more: I believe other similar wonders are still happening, and if we don’t see them it is in large measure because we are impeded by the obscurantist rationalism inculcated in us by bad literature teachers.”
