Phenomenology and Science with Jacob W. Glazier

New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove Dec 15, 2025 Philosophy Jacob W. Glazier, PhD, has a doctorate degree in Psychology: Consciousness and Society from the University of West Georgia. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Positive Human Development and Social Change at Life University and an online Adjunct Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University – Steinhardt. He is author of Arts of Subjectivity: A New Animism for the Post-Media Era.  He discusses a constellation of philosophical perspectives – going back to Nietzsche, Husserl, and Heidegger – and their implications for science in general and parapsychology in particular. The discussion is also peppered with references to feminism, psychoanalysis, marginalized social groups, post-structuralism, and the European Enlightenment. He points out that William James was, essentially, a phenomenologist. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death.
