Seven Practical Buddhist Principles

Here are seven Buddhist principles that can be applied to any life, no matter what your spiritual understanding or what your standard of living:
 .
1. EXTERNAL DE-CLUTTERING
.
One of the foremost teachings of Buddhism is the letting go of worldly pleasures and making life the simplest it can be. Buddha was born to a king and was destined to be a king himself but he left all of that in the quest for true knowledge and enlightenment. Even today they only carry and have what they need to survive and not a thing more.
 .
2. INTERNAL DE-CLUTTERING
Monks believe in doing things for the greater good. They do not do anything only for themselves. Even when they sit to meditate, they do it for everyone. Internal de-cluttering is letting go of one’s own desires and doing things for other people, and living for others.
 .
3. MEDITATING
 .
Monks spend the majority of their day meditating. They spend about 4-6 hours each day, calming their minds by meditating. The benefits of meditation are now unknown to any of us. It is not necessary to spend so much time meditating, starting off with half an hour and slowly progressing is absolutely okay too.
 .
4. LEARN FROM THE WISE
 .
In Buddhism, they associate old age with being wiser. If you take a moment and inspect your surroundings, you will find loads of people around you, who have the wisdom you need in life. Do not shy away from asking for help and the lessons that you need to steer smoothly in life. We are all lost and we feel hopeless sometimes, and that is okay, so is reaching out and getting the help you need.
 .
5. BE A GOOD LISTENER AND LET GO OF JUDGEMENT
The purpose of communication is to ease the pain we have in our hearts and minds and this can only be achieved if one listens carefully and without judgement. The purpose of communication is to hear someone out and not just wait for your turn to talk. Listen to people and make yourself heard. Let the toxicity of the negative feelings of judgement not feature in your aura.
 .
6. EMBRACE CHANGE
We live in constant fear of change. We get so used to things like our bodies, states and minds; even the mere idea of change makes us uncomfortable. To be truly calm, one must know and understand that change is the only constant.
 .
People change it. They make it better; they make it worse; ultimately, they make it different.
Once you understands this, you can get rid of anxieties, fears and complexes. One needs to understand that the moment is all there is; over thinking and the fear of what might happen or what might be or not be is ultimately pointless.
 .
7. LIVING IN THE MOMENT
 .
Embracing the moment without thinking what the future holds for us is undoubtedly challenging because we are all human and humans have the most advanced brain.
 .
Hence it is only natural that we over think, but we forget that if we start living in the moment we are in, and let the things we have no control run as they are, we can be truly happy.

How to Translate Feeling into Sound

Thane has said that sometime in the future we will do Translation with sound or music.  Here is something that may be a step in that direction.

“How can a song – written by a perfect stranger – feel as if it were written about you? Composer/artist/producer Claudio explains her art, purpose and technique, and finishes with an exclusive unveiling of her new track: “I was a Rockstar”.

“In her solo live performances, Claudio creates and orchestrates songs with complex layering in real-time using music technology. To her, the art is in making sure both the technology and technique are driven by the heart – and achieve a delicate balance between control and instinct. Rachel Claudio is a Perth-born/European-based artist/composer/singer/producer and university lecturer.

“She works with major labels and composes scores for film and TV. Her live video performances have captured the hearts and minds of millions of viewers.

“This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx”

A Geometry of Consciousness — The Pribram Bohm Hypothesis

A holoflux theory of consciousness as energy is hypothesized and shown to support both local and non-local properties. This thesis emerges from an integral evaluation of evidence drawn from three sources:

(1) the holonomic mind/brain theories of Karl Pribram,

(2) the ontological interpretation of quantum theory by David Bohm, and

(3) the hyperphysics of consciousness developed by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

Applying an integral methodology to superimpose and correlate seemingly disparate concepts from among these sources and others, a composite theory emerges, a “holoflux” theory of consciousness, after the term favored by Karl Pribram to describe David Bohm’s “holomovement.” This Pribram-Bohm composite holoflux theory is shown to be congruent with established principles of physics, mathematics, and electrical engineering, as well as with what Pierre Teilhard de Chardin termed “hyperphysics.”

BE GENTLE WITH FEAR

Be gentle with fear. It is a child of the unknown. It has travelled light years to find you.

Do not be afraid to feel it fully. It will not harm you. Let it come closer, let it penetrate you if it must.

Feel its aliveness, its pounding heart, its vibrations and tingles in the body. Until there is no division between ‘self’ and ‘fear’.

Until you cannot call it ‘fear’ at all. Until there is only life, raw and immediate, and nameless, and benevolent.

Fear is a breaking open into the unknown, a shattering of certainties. It is the forging of a new path into the vastness of night. It is the thrill of being awake.

Fear reminds you that you live on the edge of mystery. That you drink from the fountain of possibility. That your being is vast. That only the false can die.

Do not push your fear away, or label it ‘negative’ or ‘unspiritual’.

Do not pretend it is not there. Do not rush to delete it, or transform it, or even heal it. It is not an enemy, and not a mistake. It holds great intelligence and healing power. It is ancient and wise. Bow before it.

Let fear be fear, fully itself. But do not be afraid. Let the body shake, let the heart quake. And know that you are present. And opening, and opening.

Let fear, so misunderstood, come to rest in your vast heart. Let it walk with you. When it feels unwanted, hold it close.

Standing on the threshold, you take those first steps into the void.

You are shaking but you are so damn alive.
