That was cool to see how it was in the 80’s…I was struck by how far we have come. For one, the turnout this time was amazing. And I truly believe that the vast majority of bystanders were there in solidarity and support rather than in the early years when I suspect many were there to gawk and ridicule. That’s progress in itself. I used to attend the Gay Pride happenings in Palm Springs in the late 80’s mainly because it was a happy, welcoming group of people and I could let go and dance! But many attendees stood on the sidelines, snapping photos and making rude, hurtful comments. No so today. At least not as much.
