Sagittarius Full Moon, June 17, 2019, 1:30 am PDT

The Sagittarius Moon continues June’s earlier lunation theme of strong involvement with jovial and bountiful Jupiter. Instead of this planet being in opposition to both Lights (Sun and Moon), now only the Sun is opposing Jupiter and the Moon, his close ally, in Sagittarius. This may not dispel the potentially overdoing and over-giving sides of hard Jupiter aspects, but we can be more confident that any such actions come from an instinctual place. In other words, if someone is overly generous or greedy, or excessive in some way that seems problematic, we can recognize that the pattern may be habitual and difficult to change.

We may also be more forgiving if we understand that there is a root to every situation, possibly one put in place long before someone had the maturity to consider any ill consequences of choices and actions. For instance, we might discover that a person with an overeating disorder was overfed as a child, perhaps by a mother (the Moon being maternal) who felt needed, appreciated, or loved through constantly providing food. Maybe the child received positive feedback for eating more, while, as an adult, is observed to be out of control or “greedy” — yet the behavior has become automatic. Since the Moon is reflective and attuned to deeper feelings, that person may also be sensitive to being judged for their behavior and could try to hide it through eating in secret. But with Jupiter and the Moon in very open Sagittarius, opposed by the Sun, keeping anything under wraps may be problematic under this Full Moon! For example, the person might well feel shame due to weight gain that cannot easily be hidden.

Jupiter is quincunx to both Mercury and Mars; the quincunx aspect is often linked with health problems. If we have struggles around food or other substances, we may take some comfort from realizing that we are dealing with an issue that is increasingly classified by health authorities as an illness. The Sun and Moon–Jupiter are t-squaringNeptune, showing how elusive logic, truth, and answers can be sometimes, especially when dealing with fundamental human needs. Even medics and nutrition experts only have some of the answers around diets, health, and eating disorders! Neptune in its Pisceshome sign suggests that, while we battle with puzzles around longstanding habits, we can at least try to bring a compassionate understanding to ourselves and others.

The Jupiter–Neptune square, as part of the current lunar t-square, is a close (within 6 arc minutes of orb) but separating aspect, finally on the wane. We should do all we can to access our empathy muscles when faced with certain truths, even if we cannot fully appreciate the motivations behind particular actions.

There are many ways that Moon–Jupiter aspects can play out across the lunar cycle; we could witness a metaphorical wellspring, which was once a wonderful source for us, suddenly drying up. This may relate to various areas, including our work, financial investments, physical resources, hobby pleasures, and emotional fulfillment through relationships. Wherever the nourishing source may be, with a lunar cycle aspect we can know there is likely a limited span. Sometimes we can rely on cycles to bring about repeats of the same conditions. But because society is constantly changing and developing, and since planetary cycles are never identical, we must also expect some trends to change. Under this mutable, changeable Sagittarius Moon — and with Jupiter alongside, in its natural sign, Sagittarius — the time seems right to seek out new areas and activities that can provide needed supplies and results.

Full Moon symbolizes the fulfillment of the seeds planted at a previous New Moon or some earlier cycle. Each Full Moon reminds us of the seeds that may be coming to maturity, to their fullness, to fruition, to the place where the fruits or gifts are received. It may seem that fulfillment of our goals takes a long time. Some intentions may manifest within the two week phase prior to the next New or Full Moon. Some however, depending on their complexity, may take a much longer time. Just remember that our thoughts and emotions set Universal Action in motion and much work takes place behind the scenes as everything is orchestrated for fulfillment. Keep visualizing your goals as though you have already attained them and they will eventually manifest. Do not concern yourself with current conditions or worry about controlling it. The universe takes care of those details. Just keep seeing what you want, and move in that direction with your actions, and give no energy to what you don’t want. Patience is required.
