American Metaphysical Religion: Esoteric and Mystical Traditions of the New World

Ronnie Pontiac

An in-depth exploration of four centuries of American occult and spiritual history, from colonial-era alchemists to 20th-century teachers

• Details how, from the very beginning, America was a vibrant blend of beliefs from all four corners of the world

• Looks at well-known figures such as Manly P. Hall and offers riveting portraits of many lesser known esoteric luminaries such as the Pagan Pilgrim, Tom Morton

• Reveals the Rosicrucians among the first settlers from England, the spiritual influence of enslaved people, the work of mystical abolitionists, and how Native Americans and Latinx people helped shape contemporary spirituality

Most Americans believe the United States was founded by pious Christians. However, as Ronnie Pontiac reveals, from the very beginning America was a vibrant blend of beliefs from all four corners of the world.

Based on the latest research, with the assistance of leading scholars, this in-depth exploration of four centuries of American occult and spiritual history looks at everything from colonial-era alchemists, astrologers, and early spiritual collectives to Edgar Cayce, the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor, and St. Germain on Mount Shasta. Pontiac shows that Rosicrucians were among the first settlers from England and explores how young women of the Shaker community fell into trances and gave messages from the dead. He details the spiritual influence of the African diaspora, the work of mystical abolitionists, and how Indigenous groups and Latinx people played a large role in the shaping of contemporary spirituality and healing practices.

The author looks at well-known figures such as Manly P. Hall and lesser known esoteric luminaries such as the Pagan Pilgrim, Tom Morton. He examines the Aquarian Gospel, the Sekhmet Revival, A Course in Miracles, the School of Ageless Wisdom, and mediumship in the early 20th century. He explores the profound influence of the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in Los Angeles and looks at the evolution of female roles in spirituality across the centuries. He also examines the right wing of American metaphysics from the Silver Legion to QAnon.

Revealing the diverse streams that run through America’s metaphysical landscape, Pontiac offers an encyclopedic examination of occult teachers, esotericists, and spiritual collectives almost no one has heard of but who were profoundly influential.

Weekly Invitational Translation Group

Translation is a 5-step process of “straight thinking in the abstract.” The first step is an ontological statement of being beginning with the syllogism: “Truth is that which is so. That which is not truth is not so. Therefore Truth is all there is.” The second step is the sense testimony (what the senses tell us about anything). The third step is the argument between the absolute abstract nature of truth from the first step and the relative specific truth of experience from the second step. The fourth step is filtering out the conclusions you have arrived at in the third step. The fifth step is your overall conclusion.

The claims in a Translation may seem outrageous, but they are always (or should always) be based on self-evident syllogistic reasoning. Here is one Translation from this week.

1)    Truth is that which is so.  That which is not truth is not so.  Therefore Truth is all that is.  Truth being all is therefore total, whole, one, otherless, united, harmonious, mutual.  I think therefore I am.  Since I am and since Truth is all that is, therefore I am Truth.  Since I am Truth, therefore I, being, am total, whole, one, otherless, united, harmonious, mutual.  Since I am Truth and I am mind, therefore Truth is Mind.

2)    Sometimes those in power don’t know when it’s time to step down and let someone else have a turn.

Word-tracking:
power:  potent, the ability to be
mutual:  exchange, reciprocal, a number or quantity when multiplied by another number number equals one
turn:  chance, opportunity or right to do something
opportunity:  coming towards port, opportune
know:  can, able, have, hold, possess, own

3)    Truth being all that is, there can be nothing other than Truth, therefore Truth is otherless OR Truth is one.  Truth being one, all share in the mutuality of Truth.  Since all share in the mutuality of Truth, therefore all share in the power of Truth, the ability to be of Truth.  Therefore one does not step up or down from the power of Truth, One is always on the throne of Truth.  Therefore One always has the right, the opportunity to come towards the port of Truth.  Truth being Mind or Knowing, and Truth being all, therefore Truth is all-knowing, all ability, all having, all holding, all possessing, all owning.

4)    Truth is otherless OR Truth is one
All share in the mutuality of Truth.
All share in the power of Truth, the ability to be of Truth.
One is always on the throne of Truth.
One always has the right, the opportunity to come towards the port of Truth.
Truth is all-knowing, all ability, all having, all holding, all possessing, all owning.

5)   One always has the right, the opportunity, to mount the throne of Truth, being all-knowing, all ability, all having, all holding, all possessing, all ability.

Estrogen and testosterone

Do men have estrogen?

A fully grown male usually has an estradiol level of 10-40 picograms per milliliter (pg/ml) and an estrone level of 10-50 pg/ml. Although the male body needs estrogen to function properly, high estrogen levels can cause health problems such as gynecomastia, erectile dysfunction, or infertility. Feb 14, 2022

Conservatives Claim Hitler’s Nazi Allegiance Greatly Exaggerated

WASHINGTON—Claiming that historians have unfairly vilified the 20th-century German dictator and misrepresented his role in the far-right political party, many conservative pundits and activists argue that Adolf Hitler’s Nazi allegiances have been greatly exaggerated. “Just because Hitler was Führer and Chancellor of the Reich during World War II, liberals are always making him out to be some kind of Nazi,” political commentator Lee Gunderson told reporters Thursday, explaining that as a German politician who rose to power in the 1930s, Hitler certainly had to work with the Nazis, but that did not necessarily mean the group represented his beliefs. “He gets a bad rap because history textbooks are written by elite left-wing professors with a political agenda. Did Hitler attend a Nazi Party meeting or two? Sure. Did he wear a swastika on the arm of his military uniform? Yes, and so did everyone else in Germany back then. Are there films of him giving the Nazi Sieg Heil salute and making speeches in which he rails against the Jews? Most certainly, but are we willing to condemn a man for simply exercising his right to free speech?” Gunderson went on to state that it was obvious Hitler was being discriminated against for belonging to the master race.

Tarot Card for May 19: The Princess of Cups

The Princess of Cups

If this card comes up to represent a person, she will be a gentle, romantic individual with high levels of intuition. The Princess of Cups is compassionate and caring, warm and responsive. She is at peace with her emotional nature, often highly creative and artistic. She has a certain fragility, particularly when coming into contact with the harsher realities of everyday life, and will not always cope well with conflict. In her world, tranquillity and harmony are highly valued.

If, as often happens with the Princesses of the deck, the card comes up to represent a change in events, then the interpretation broadens out somewhat. For instance, the Princess of Cups will sometimes come up to indicate forthcoming pregnancy. The card also appears to indicate a woman falling in love.

And if the card applies to a state of mind, then it will indicate heightened perception, and tells you to listen carefully to the voice of your own intuition, and to follow through on any ideas which arise from it.

Taurus New Moon, May 19th, 2023

Wendy Cicchetti

Taurus New Moon

The Taurus New Moon helps us stand firm and make concrete plans, particularly in areas where we’ve formerly fumbled. Unlike in common story lines, most of the time we aren’t heroes on a mission, able to plunge forward with clear-cut plans, motivations, or intentions. Sometimes, our wants may be hazy or there are obstacles in life obstructing progress. But like true heroes, we may also find ways to circumvent impediments. Many people may, however, have had to reconcile with challenges that are not easy to resolve and with barriers, whether personal or external, that seem impossible to counter. Until now, that is! It might well be under the revitalizing energy of the Taurus New Moon that a new avenue opens before us or we find fresh energy to put behind a project.

This New Moon is especially well-supported through close aspects to three other planets — including sextiles to Mars in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces, and an out-of-sign trine to Pluto in Aquarius. Something about the watery energy of Cancer and Pisces allows for an easier flow of both physical energy and inspired action. Suddenly, we mobilise where we were previously stuck. Or answers to our problems drop in, where there was just a void earlier. As a result, depleted vitality and former frustrations are quickly replaced with verve and hope.

The trine to Pluto in Aquarius adds clarity and speed of development, like switching on a fan to clear the air so the atmosphere itself becomes more inviting toward positive thought and activity. Pluto’s reputation for blowing things up can translate into issues becoming magnified and experiencing physical or material destruction. Difficult aspects might present us with problems, but the trine crystallizes the picture and clears the way for new creations. Taurus is very much about building something solid, after all.

Since Pluto is an outer, dwarf planet, external developments, such as ground-clearing for new-build construction, could personally benefit us or the community at large. And maybe provide new, needed facilities or homes to people who will assist us in ways we can’t yet imagine — perhaps we are some of those people! Either way, we could see more benefits of Pluto-themed developments coming to light soon, or at least beginning to take shape now.

The Moon’s dispositor, Venus in Cancer, underlines the strength of support in the shape of water, however it functions. That is, we might be talking about physical water features or facilities, which provide us with opportunities for sport, refreshment, or basic sustenance. Or we could experience caring, empathic, compassionate qualities in relationships. Cancer is the water sign arguably with the most initiative, since this is a cardinal sign by quality, supporting especially effective, decisive action. Since Venus is emphasized in this case, we may experience this process in a softer, but still significant way.

Maybe those around us with more feminine energies help commence action or intervene to rescue a situation. The kindness associated with Venus in Cancer partners well with the hospitality of Taurus — as well as its love of the good life. A finer level of comfort, normally unattainable, might well be within reach at this time — or simply, we allow ourselves more contentment and serenity — either in attitude or because of financial easing.

Venus trines Saturn in Pisces and sextiles Uranus in Taurus, suggesting that both old and new ways are useful to us. Whilst we may habitually reach for well-worn methods and routes, the sextile stirs us to open up to a bit more risk taking here and there. Innovation ushers in fresh energy to get things moving and developing. It’s time to say “yes” to the challenge!
