I let go my grievances that I might have a miracle instead

Any guilt I see in another will blind me to my own perfection. Today. May I see the eternal innocence in others, even when they have presented to me the darkness of their egos. May I be released from my own darkness as I stand willing to see past theirs.

Those we need to forgive are our most important teachers for they indicate the limits to our capacity for forgiveness. Where there is blame, there is no love, and where there is no love, there cannot be miracles. We can have a grievance or a miracle, but we cannot have both. Today, I let go my grievances that I might have a miracle instead.

Dear God,
I give to you
My grievances
That I might have a miracle.
Instead, may I be released from my guilt
As I release others from theirs
May I see the innocence beyond the mistakes
In my brother and in myself.
Amen
