Scorpio Full Moon

The Scorpio Full Moon urges observation of deeply buried aspects of our nature, including darker thoughts and feelings. Whatever we might ordinarily conceal stands to surface dramatically, due to squares from Pluto to the Sun and Moon, as part of the inbuilt tension of a t-square. These are somewhat like a doublebarrelled gun, with force from two channels directed toward a particular target.

Even with a team of aggressors in a confrontational situation, the “target” may still have room to maneuver! There may be harm or wounds if the person is unlucky — or they may have a chance to negotiate or dodge a bullet if they can back away fast enough.

Whether this shows up externally in events and relationships, or internally in thoughts and choices, we could need to think on our feet to avoid a disaster. The Scorpio Moon and Taurus Sun emphasize our natural survival instincts, protecting our safety and security, so we can trust our immediate responses are the right ones.

Pluto’s squares may alert us to the need to close down an option, recognizing it no longer works for us; despite the natural determination of fixed signs Taurus and Scorpio, there is no value in persisting further. Instead, we can put that energy relatively easily into the task of cutting the connection. We may experience immediate relief from leaving a scene and/or announcing we won’t be returning!

Pluto is sometimes less direct, sooner just implying something or laying the groundwork for a future change of course. Whether an action casts doubt or feels more like lighting a fuse, it’s probably exactly what is needed.

The t-square’s angles are attached to an opposition between planetary “main characters” Sun and Moon. Pluto’s 90-degree aspects to the Lights represent polar points of view alongside fluctuating situations, given the Moon’s dispositor, Mars, in the shifting sign of Pisces.

In an example scenario, I was heading for lunch with a friend at our usual haunt. Unexpectedly, there was new staff implementing rigid menu rules, and I couldn’t order my usual preferences without extra fuss and charges. It was confusing that the restaurant normally offered substitutes for food items that carry an allergy risk, and with the cost-of-living crisis (echoed in the current Uranus–Jupiter conjunction in Taurus), a level of financial sensitivity was added for everyone.

I am typically quite tolerant by nature, but temporary stress from a heavy workload drove an irritated response, and I decided to cancel my order and leave. It felt right — at least in the Scorpio moment! But I was soon aware how my actions rattled my Taurean companion, upset to burn bridges at a place where we’d previously enjoyed many meals, laughs, and good ambience. I had sensed changes creeping in there lately, though, when the somewhat joyless staff had joined in recent weeks. Like the fixed signs in the t-square of Pluto to Sun and Moon, I was resisting their more rule-based changes! The Moon connects with our needs; it seemed clear my needs would no longer be easily met there. And, given the subject of food intolerances with potentially serious effects, my survival instincts were triggered.

But the Moon is also disposited by simmering Pluto, and Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces, swimming away to more calming and compassionate shores, may fit. Mars sextile Jupiter–Uranus in Taurus indicates a lucky opportunity, maybe a surprise bonus or the result of a new development. The wave of fresh air from Uranus can help pour balm on any troubled scenarios. For us, it was discovering new eateries opening locally, with special menus to accommodate an increasing awareness of food intolerances.
