Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was a poet, philosopher, lecturer, essayist, minister, and abolitionist who led the Transcendentalist movement in the mid-19th century. His influential works include “Self-Reliance” and “The Over-Soul” from his collection Essays. Emerson was also the editor of The Dial and purchased the Walden Pond land where Henry David Thoreau conducted his famous experiment.  (Wikipedia.org)
