“Two insights about RHS” by Mike Zonta, H.W., M.

1)  What I learned from watching TV:  Heard this female therapist in the BBC series Sherlock say that when remembering something, it’s not just the mind that remembers, but the body as well.

2)  I was thinking about the term “straw man” while walking yesterday.  See definition below:

straw man
ˌstrô ˈman/
noun: straw man
  1. 1.
an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent’s real argument.
“her familiar procedure of creating a straw man by exaggerating their approach”
  2. 2.
a person regarded as having no substance or integrity.
“a photogenic straw man gets inserted into office and advisers dictate policy”

. . . and realized that that’s kind of what we do in our awakening as Consciousness.  When we don’t have the whole story about a situation (whether present or past), we make up a straw man and then rail against it and feel wholly justified in doing so.   The straw men in our past are not real.  They are the best understanding available to us at the time.  Now we have a greater understanding of who we are:  Consciousness, Being, Life Itself.

So let’s shed ourselves of some of these straw men.  They are only made of straw, after all.

[RHS refers to  The Prosperos class “Releasing the Hidden Splendour” which is presented in one format or another from time to time.]
