This video is beautifully produced nonsense combining fascinating images and isolated nuggets of facts, with the suggestion of interesting ideas that are never grounded in meaningful conclusions.
I would like to stress that fractals are mathematical constructs, not objects in the world.
Mandelbrot was a very creative and ingenious mathematician, and fractal analysis can be a very useful way to concisely describe complex systems—for example the pattern of wrinkles in an old person’s face. But don’t lose track of the beauty of the person while analyzing the fractal dimension of the surface of the face.
